Can I clad directly onto existing tiles?

Overview:

Redoing bathroom suite, wall & floor tiles including ceiling. Have heard about wall/floor cladding.

Question:

Can you apply the wall/floor cladding on top of conventional tiles, or is it best to remove the old tiles? I have heard that you can install on top of the old, but I'm not so sure anymore... Also, do IPSL have tradesmen that can carry out the workmanship? Thanks - Ifraz.

Hello Ifraz, thanks for your query. Yes, you can clad directly onto existing tiles, provided that the entire surface you wish to cover is tiled - if you want to clad a full wall but only half of the wall is tiled, you'd need to remove the tiles first as otherwise you wouldn't have a completely plumb surface for the adhesive to key to. You also may want to consider sanding down the tiles first if they are particularly glossy, so as to allow the adhesive to key more easily.

As for whether we can fit the panels as well as supply them, generally we only offer supply-and-fit for large-scale commercial jobs, as it doesn't work out as economical for either IPSL or the customer for us to offer fitting on small projects. However, any good fitter, joiner, plumber, decorator etc. should have no problems with installing our panels - they're very straightforward to use.
